Inspection Friday
Well, we got a call from the next person we'll be working with at DHS. In the past week she has already gone through our paperwork to see what needs to be updated. She will be by Friday for our first home inspection and to give us the paperwork to fill out. I was shocked to hear from her within a week of the last phone call from them. I'm excited and nervous!

You will do wonderful on the home inspection. The case worker will definitely see what a great person you are and what a great Mom you are going to be. If you get nervous while she is there, just look on your left or right shoulder and you will see all your Village Angels, I will be the fluffy one closest to your right ear cheering you on, you will recognize me by the pom poms and tennis shoes

I hope all goes well for you. My husband and I are becoming foster parents and we had to have 3 home visits, I was a nervous wreck. It wasn't anything like I thought it was going to be and I got all stressed out for nothing.
Good luck to you!!

For us, we had to do a few little things like cap the outlets, post emergency numbers near phone and post a fire exit plan. I'm sure there are little things they don't mention... obviously if you've got a layer of cat poop on your floor or no running water I'm sure that would be a problem. I believe they actually check to make sure you have the the bedroom space for extra kids. We also had to have paperwork from the fire dept saying we had a fire inspection, which was also way easy.
I was told they don't care that much that your house is a little messy or super clean, but if your house was insanely clean they might have to put you through some extra training because you can't really be OCD about your carpets when you have kids, you know?
Anyway, totally my experience.
