    Default Moving on to Adoption

As most of you know dh and I have been going through infertilty treatments for the past 2 years.
During my last month of treatment my fsh level came back high, many doctors (mine included) feel that once a woman has a high fsh level her chances of getting pregnant are very slim.
We decided to go ahead with the cycle as we had already started the meds. and there is still always the chance of getting pregnant.
Well at one of the routine check-ups to see how my many eggs I had, I had 3 and the next visit I was down to 2 eggs and they had shrunk in size.
My doctor cancelled the cycle and told me my chances of ever getting pregnant with my own eggs were very slim.
He told me my next option would be to use donor eggs.

We were already using donor sperm as dh has none.

We discussed it and our other options. And we decided to move on to adoption.
We are just tired of doctor appts., tests, taking meds, and disappointment month after month.
We just want to be parents more then anything and if we can't have a biological child at least we can be parents in our hearts and through adoption.

So we got in touch with our local social services and a few other adoption agencies. We discussed domestic & international adoption and we fell domestic adoption is best for us. We both really want a newborn and with international adoption that does not happen as most of the babies are 1 year or older when they are placed with families.

So we are going with our local social services. We found out 2 weeks ago that we were accepted and placed on the waiting list. We are family number 16 on the list.
The only bad part is the waiting, we may have to wait up to 2 years for our child.
We both know that we want to adopt a boy though.

So, we are patiently waiting and doing some home improvements before we start with the home inspections that we are required to go through.

Just think of all the diapers and baby supplies that I can find on sale and stock pile in those 2 years..

Okay, well, 16 isn't so bad, right? I am hoping you'll hop up to number one VERY quickly.

And you can definitely get lots of diapers in 2 years, but I hope you don't have too many stockpiled by the time your baby comes home, if YKWIM.

I think your decision to adopt through social services is really wonderful. I see a lot of kids who are in foster care, and some who have been adopted into loving homes in my line of work. The process can be very hard, but the kids really are worth it.
    Best of Luck!

I know that this must have been very difficult for you and your dh with all that you've been through. I hope the list narrows down to you quickly and you get that baby boy before too long.

Debbie, I will be praying for you.

A friend of mine adopted a boy 4 years ago. It was their 4th child. He was 3 years old at the time and from our province.

Her family decided to adopt so that they could bless a child in need of a loving family.

Well surprise, surprise. It is they who have been blessed. He is such a GREAT kid! Kind and gentle, smart and loving.
And his family history is horrible. His father is in jail for some violent crime all his siblings are in social care.

He has grandparents, aunts and uncles and no one wanted him. My friend has even tried to keep his grandparents posted on how well things are going for him. They never reply.

But he is VERY happy and so is his adpotive family.

I hope your wait is short.
