It is Frugal Village experience points.
Each action you do within forums will give you points.

Example: Posting pictures in your albums, starting new threads, replying to threads, viewing threads. The post count is important but there are also other aspects of the forums that should be counted when building a strong community.

We will be implementing some other changes... Where users will be able to have their own FV Forum page and other goodies.

A good way to make many points will be to tag information in the forums when you post a thread. This will allow the forums to be more [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_Web"]semantic[/ame] and useful to the community.

Sounds good, Gabe. I don't know that I've ever 'tagged' information when I posted a thread. I'll have to figure that one out.

You can tag threads that are already posted. This will give you points.

At the bottom of this thread I have tagged it: colored bars, experience points, fvexperience

For those of us who are computer illiterate, can you please explain? I have no idea what that means.

A good way to make many points will be to tag information in the forums when you post a thread. This will allow the forums to be more semantic and useful to the community.
Hope this helps. By clicking on edit tags at bottom right you can tag threads. Think of it as putting a label on a thread. You typically want to tag with key words that are discuss in the thread. Once this is done you can look at a tag cloud or search tags for what you are looking for.

The benefit of doing this is to better index data so that it can be usable across multiple systems or different users.

Here is an example of tag cloud that is being worked on.

I tagged a few threads with Gas as a key word. Since this is currently more popular and tagged more often it is displayed in larger fonts compared to other terms.

Thanks, Gabe. I understand what you are referring to now when you were mentioning 'tagged'. I was also confused, but now I think it is clear.

Ok, so I get that the tag is like a "label' or an "index", but HOW to do you tag a thread. I see the Edit tags spot, but how, why, and who can tag a thread...

    this hurts my brain!!

Question Is the arcade gone for good?

I was shocked to see it gone, I'm so addicted to a couple of those games.

when you read the response or go to post to something, there is a little box at the bottom or close to the bottom of the page. if you look at the box, it will have words underlined, and they are links to other posts. but also, in a corner of that box, you can click on the words, edit tags.

that's the how and who of it.

but as to why, well, if you know that a particular post is talking about something, but you want others to see a similar post, or see another point of this, then you tag each of them with similar words. that way, others can go to those places and see the info.

    hope this helps.
