I removed all the advertising when we re-designed the site and mentioned that it was temporarily removed while we continued to work on the site.
In order for FV to continue to be available for free to members, we need a source of income to exist.
We will continue to try different advertising strategies.
My apologies that you freaked out and find it annoying, but we will do our best to implement options for those that feel as you do. -

We worked on it last night and are still testing different methods of placement and type of ads, but I should have announced it as I usually do.
I know others may feel differently, but I find this new placement an improvement from the Intellitxt. -

I do like this form of advertisement a lot better than the links in the posts. I'm not sure what that was called. Just my 2 cents...

It was the Intellitxt ads. I liked it because it wasn't "in your face", but what I didn't like was how it would sometimes use posts that were of a more personal nature simply based on words we posted. I think it would be fine in articles, but not as good on community forums like ours. We may test it again in the future, but for now, we're trying other methods.
We'll be removing the top banner ad. It's not my goal to cover the site in ads. I am testing things now and trying to find a happy balance. Many sites plaster ads all over their forums, but I don't consider that a solution at all. -

I just want to put in my 2c that these in-line ads are LESS intrusive than the Intellitxt. Being a very visual person, my eyes were always jumping to the colored & underlined (links) words. I think this is better.

We removed the top ad and are testing the ads in the forums. The ads we are using are google ads and are pay per click advertisements. Some other ads are pay per view and pay per click (the banners on the top and right hand side on the main page) and others are pay per action. (ex: our Amazon store
https://www.frugalvillage.com/compone...dge/Itemid,51/ is pay per action meaning if a purchase is made, we get paid a small commission)
We are testing the performance of the ads according to placement, so placements may change.
Thank you for your patience while we sort out what works best. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. -

I know you need the income from the advertising.....
but I find the suggestive screen saver adds offensive....
am I the only one?
Please ask them to show only family appropriate ones....
I find the woman in G-string with her arse in the air degrading....I know she is a model but it is such a demeaning and submissive pose. -

I doubt you're the only one. I have filters set, but for some reason that one didn't get filtered.
