Make Apple Cookies
THESE ARE REALLY CUTE:
What you'll need:
1 (18 ounce) roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough
2/3 cup flour
Green & red food coloring
Apple-shaped 2-1/2 inch cookie cutter (Click here for the template)
Craft sticks
1 (7 ounce) bag soft caramels, unwrapped
1 bag M&M’S® Brand Milk or Peanut Chocolate Candies
What to do:
Blend the flour into the cookie dough. Remove 1/3 cup dough and tint it with the green food coloring. Tint the rest of the dough with the red food coloring.
Roll out the red dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
Press out cookies using the apple-shaped cookie cutter. Press a craft stick into the back of each cookie. Transfer to a non-stick sheet pan.
Roll out the green dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut out leaf shapes. Transfer to the sheet pan with the apple cookies.
Bake for 12 to 14 minutes in a preheated 350-degree oven. Once baked, remove cookies and allow to completely cool.
Meanwhile, microwave the caramels in a microwave-safe bowl for 1-1/2 minutes. Stop and stir occasionally until caramels are melted. Dip one end of each cookie into the melted caramel and then in M&M’S® Brand Milk or Peanut Chocolate Candies.
Dip a corner of each leaf cookie into the caramel and then attach to an apple cookie. Transfer the cookies to a sheet pan lined with waxed paper until the caramel has firmed up.
Makes 15 apples.
