Is anyone planning to go apple picking this year?
As I said in another thread, I don't really care for apples much (unless they're in apple pie), but I can't wait to go apple picking.
How about you? Are you planning to go this year? And if so, what kind of apples will you pick?
We generally pick Jonathans and Cortlands.

I would love to. I haven't picked since Raechel was in kindergarten-school trip to the orchard!
There is a local upick farm I will check out. I want to make applesauce this year.

We've already done our apple picking here. It was a bit early this year considering the dry weather and heat. The apples were falling off the trees early.
My applesauce is all ready made and in the basement.

Hi All,
We just got back from picking Summer Reds, Cortlands and 2 other varieties. $4 for 3 huge bags of apples! My kind of deal!

I'll be getting Golden Delicious apples. My son lives on an apple farm (we're in the heart of apple country) so his landlord will let us pick from their orchard. He also has a grape vineyard. Maybe I can get those at the same time. I love apple crisps, pies and cake.Mmmm.

We usually go in October and pick cortlands, macs and red delicious. It's our yearly tradition, we pick the apples, then go into the bakery and buy a hot-just out of the oven apple dumpling and some hot apple cider and sit outside and enjoy it. I love to make apple crisp and applesauce. Can't wait to go, we've already been talking about it.

Sadly, no because there aren't any orchards here. Apples don't grow well here.

What's a good price for apples? The 1.59 a lb. in the store is outrageous to me. I've looked on line and have seen them going for $16 a bushel. I have no idea what bushel is LOL! I'm guessing it's a specific size container like I used to get peach picking in NY. help?
