Caramel Crunch Apple Pie
I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds wonderful!
Caramel Crunch Apple Pie
Pastry for a 1 crust 9-inch pie
24 caramels
2 T. water
4 cups peeled and sliced apples
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Preheat oven to 375*. Place the pie pastry in a 9-inch pie plate and flute the edge. Melt the caramels with 2 T. of water in a heavy pan over low heat or in a microwave safe container. Spoon the apples into the crust and top with the caramel sauce. Mix together the flour, sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the butter or margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the chopped nuts and sprinkle over the apples and caramel. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the apples are tender.
