Its apple season time - a few tips
Apples stored in your fridge, away from pungent foods, can keep for up to 3 months.
Always check your apples before storing. One bad apple can ruin the whole lot.
A pound of apples equals 1 1/2 c. sauce, 3 c. sliced or 2 c. chopped apples
To prevent browning, dip cut apple pieces in water and a squeeze of orange juice.
Applesauce can be a substitution for zucchini in both bread and muffin mixes.
Apples that are diced go well in coleslaw.
Enjoy the apple season.

If your buying apples by the bushel, wrap each one seperately in newspaper so the old saying "one bad apple ruins them all" or something like that. lol
We did 3 bushels and kept them till early summer in our pantry.

Thanks for the info, ladies! I live in the heart of "apple country", so we buy lots of apples. There are thousands of acres of apple orchards within a few miles of my house. I love the smell of apples ripening on the trees.
