Do you own a toaster oven, and if so....
Do you actually use it, and what do you cook in it? Was thinking about getting one for 2 reasons...1. make biscuits or cornbread without the heat of the large ove 2. it's something the kids could use while I'm not home. TIA

I have one, but I just use it mostly as a toaster. I make garlic bread in it also, but that's about it. I haven't really figured out how to bake in it.

I cook mostly "kid food" in our toaster oven — french fries, tater tots, fish sticks, etc. I also use it for biscuits. It's used mainly at lunch time and I use it so I do not heat up the house with the main oven.

I have them off and on all of my adult life. I actually gave the last one I had away when we bought our home. I never found much to use it for, for me it was just something to take up space on the counter or under the cabinet.

I have one, I moved it down to the basement closet to get the space back. The only thing I ever seemed to use it for was melting the cheese on French onion soup.
I have an aunt who cooks a lot casseroles in one, but there are just two of them. None of my casserole dishes fit in mine.

I would be lost without my toaster oven. It gets used in this house probally three times a day. It's nice because it doesn't heat up the house like the oven.

That's my goal for this year's yard sale season - to find a toaster oven. Found one - it was Cuisinart Brand and it was fairly big inside. They were asking $7 and I know they would've taken $5.
DH TALKED ME OUT OF IT!!!!Last edited by Jamauk; 06-11-2008 at 10:45 PM. Reason: add color to font

Jessica-
What a great find!! I've been trolling the used websites in my area for one and but have found that great a deal and the ones showing up on Freecyle were questionable even according to the individual giving it away.
Guess I need to watch for good sales too
Edited: to add..after posting this I see your DH talked you out of it

i love mine!
never before has such a small appliance held such a respected place on my counter before!
i use it to heat up small portions, make toast, cook smaller stuff for just the few of us... and warm up breads or keep 'em warm til the rest of the food's done. i've made pizza in it, breads/biscuits, burritos... you name it!
i love mine... but i also need a new one too!

I've never had one and never used one before in my 35 years. I have a microwave oven, a toaster and a oven. I don't really want to crowd my counter with one more appliance. I can broil in my oven, reheat and cook in the microwave and toast in my toaster.

When I was little my grandma always had this little silver toaster oven sitting on her counter and she must have used that thing every day. She had that thing for-ev-er! Sometime after I got married, she gave it to me. I've had it for probably 5-6 years at least.
Just in the past month it started acting weird, and now it seems it's stopped working altogether. I have to get a new one.

When we got married we registered for one, but when it conked out a few years ago, we replaced it with a little $10 Sunbeam 2- slice toaster and I don't even miss it. I never learned how to bake in it, I would use it to toast or heat up small amounts of food.
