another one bites the dust
Wow, the appliance failures are just piling up on us. First the AC, then the fridge... now the washer. (It's 10+ years old) DH put a load in just before company came and as we were sitting chatting I told him I smelled burning electronics (which usually means a computer died -- we lost a hard drive Tuesday, too!) A little investigating and he said it was the washer. The plug was hot and it smelled of burning something so he unplugged it. No clean laundry for work tomorrow, ugh.
The good news is that we have his parents washer and dryer stored in the garage from when they passed away, so if ours can't be fixed cheaply at least we don't have to BUY new ones, just move a load of crap around.Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.
If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it into a closet.

How is your wiring ? Is it an older house ?
That seems like quite a few failures in a short time.
And all appliances. It seems like luck runs in 3's but you
have more than 3 there. And all related to electric, correct ?

It seems like it is time to kick Murphy out and send him somewhere else just not to my house. It is wonderful that you have a spare washer and dryer, that worked out well. Best of luck.

We have crappy wiring yes, half our ceiling lights don't work. However the AC unit was 23 years old, the fridge is about 20 years old, and the washer is more than 10 years old. I don't think it's the wiring, just bad timing.
The computer stuff DH gets used from friends who upgrade, or jobs where they trash perfectly good computers, so most of it has a shortened lifespan. But since we get it free most of the time, we don't complain much.Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.

That sucks...when it rains it floods
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Let me tell you a couple of stories.
Son's wife was complaining about electric bills $ 500 a month at a birthday party back this spring. I told her our's were right around $ 100 a month. I asked about their electric wiring knowing the house they have is old. A few months later I found out they had completely rewired the whole house. Light bill is now less than $ 200 a month. They both work full time, and have 4 young kids. So she does a lot of washing and drying. Was considering a new dryer last I knew.
When we lived on the farm years ago, the house was old and the wiring was from day one. OLD. One day I had to call the fire department because when I unplugged the freezer, the wall socket started throwing sparks, etc. The farmer was NOT happy I made the call. BUT I was not happy to be dancing in the kitchen. The old wiring got fixed FINALLY.
Can you tell old wiring makes me nervous...........
