Leak under the washing machine
So earlier this week, I discovered a leak under the washing machine. I lifted the machine earlier today and found a drip that's on the drain hose. I couldn't find a hole, but I think that there is one in the hose. The hose isn't disconnected on either end, so the plan is to go about replacing the hose.
I had to move the wood that I had stored next to the washing machine and put old sheets in their place. Hopefully, the sheets will help absorb the leaking fluid.
It doesn't help that the drain water smells too.
I'm going to call the same parts store that we got our oven burner and the dryer fuse from and see what it'll cost me to replace that hose this weekend. I might have DH pick it up on his way home tomorrow.
It's better than replacing the entire washing machine.

Ugh, drain water smells and good luck getting it fixed. These things are such a pain.

Hope you get it fixed without a major expense.
Must be the month for washing machines......but mine is the faucet.....just needs a washer......I HOPE. With my hard water I am hoping I can get the handle off it......Liquid Wrench and I are good buddies!!

I replaced a hose on my machine a couple of years ago. It was only about $30 and it has worked perfectly ever since.

Sears (on-line) is also a good resource for parts.
BTW - if you use fabric softener in your washer, that may be the cause for the smelly drain. That stuff builds-up and creates mold growth (both in the drain and in washers.

Good luck getting the washer fixed. I hope it is just the hose.
Our drain water smells too. Our well water stinks like rotten eggs. I thought that was the bad smell. I stopped using liquid fabric softener a while ago. Too expensive and too many chemicals. I am sure that contributes to the smell.

Nah, I use Tide and vinegar and baking soda in my loads (bedwetting issues, which is the reason for the baking soda and vinegar). I have one of those Bounce dryer bars in my dryer (which isn't all that great).
I have a parts store that we got the fuse for the dryer and the heating element for the oven at, and they seem pretty good. If I can get the part at Sears for cheaper, I'd take the train to the mall to pick it up. That'd be great.
