My Retarded Washer! AAARRRGGGHHH

my washer is acting up & we've tried everything to make it work like it should.
When I go to fill it w/water, it drains & won't stay. Weird, but sometimes it won't do this & sometimes it does. It's happening everyday now, whereas before it would only do this once in awhile.
I am fit to be tied - I don't want to buy another washer, but I have to do a load a day to keep up with the laundry that we have.
Please help...any suggestions are welcome, thanks

It sounds like the mix valve may be bad. What brand of washer?

We own it's cousin. My washer fills,washes and sometimes doesn't empty. You go to bed and get up the next day and have to to manual rinse. Maytag used to be the best.Used to be.

Did you type in trouble shooting and make and model. It should give you some info.

Its a General Electric

Yes, we sure did...& dh seems to think something is plugged up.
Dang, they deffinetely do not make things to last now. The first washer/dryer I had, my mom bought used for $50 it was 20yrs old then & it lasted us12 years with dh only having to replace the timer in the dryer once...which he found in the junkyard

in 1999 we replaced the washer after giving it to FIL, who had it for 2 more yrs.....We have bought 2 washers since 1999...POS's...even brand new
