DH bought me a new chest freezer!!
Woot! Woot!! The chest freezer I've been using for the past two years is a banged-up old freebie that my brother rescued from going to the dump. Yes, it does work, although the lid is warped and we have to weigh it down with heavy weights on the two front corners.
Two days ago a couple of 5.0 cubic feet chest freezers arrived at the store damaged. They were being sold "as is" for $100.00 each, so DH got one plugged in (to make sure it worked) and then bought it for me.
Is it silly to cry over a new appliance? I'm so happy I can hardly contain myself. This one actually has an interior drain and an outside drain opening!! We used to have to haul the old one outside and lie it on the side to get all the water out when we defrosted it.
The only thing wrong with it is the lower right corner is dented, which popped the control panel loose. (the inside wiring of the controls seem fine and so far it's working great)
The most touching part about it to me, is that DH dipped into his own vacation savings to buy this for me. I guess I'm getting old, cause I found that downright romantic.
Just had to share my happy news!!

Enjoy your new freezer! The first big purchase my DH and I made was a 7 cubic foot chest freezer. A scratch and dent model from Sears for $149. 15 years later it's still going strong

Frugal Witch - I must be like you. I find that very romantic as well. Id propose to my bf if he just upped and scrubbed my shower cubicle clean for me. All hes done so far is complain how cramped and closterphobic it is. Hey man, its what came with the house!

What a sweetheart you have there! I don't know what I'd do without my freezer. I always stock up on boneless chicken breast, ground beef, etc. when on sale.
