    Default Dishonest people....

Ended up buying a car from a private party to replace my Intrepid. And, I swear if I run into the guy I bought the Buick from I'm going to step on his foot!!! Because, it is now at the car doctor getting an engine!!! On the upside the dealership wanted $2,200. to put an engine in with 140,000 miles on it and the shop that towed the car to the dealership for me had one with 97,000 on it and they were willing to do the whole job for $1,200.00. Guess who got the job?

that is one of the huge drawbacks of buying from a private party IMO although, I have been known to take it for a test drive to my mechanic

Took it for a test drive, had a former mechanic & my hubby with me. Both men now say the seller must have put engine honey in the oil to help cover the sounds. The body is extremely good & the interior is nice too...so once the engine problem is solved I should be good to go.

Bothers me though, since I asked the guy point blank if there were any issues we should know about. We've bought lemons from dealers before too...just a risk you take with any car I suppose.

to bad you couldn't have put in the contract/buyers agreement that there is nothing wrong with what ever where he would have to pay for his lie

Sometimes stuff happens. Two weeks ago my engine was running perfectly fine. Halfway home from getting cat food the car started shuddering, stuttering and generally running badly. I took it straight to my mechanic, praying the whole way.

If you'd bought my car the day before I would have sworn you'd get years of trouble-free driving from it.
Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.

If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it into a closet.

Very true...I'm just hopeful I will get years of trouble free driving out of it now. My Intrepid had over 200,000 miles on it and my daughter is driving it...bet the Intrepid would be laughing at me if it could.

Sorry to hear about the dishonest seller. The karma police are watching, don't you worry. (IF the seller was intentionally being dishonest)

Used cars are always a gamble. I just replaced my expensive, but great Toyota Tacoma for a beater 2001 Dodge Ram. I'm going to say beater loosely, as it's in really good shape for it's age, and only had 68K miles on it when I bought it a month ago.

Bought the truck from a local, and reputable Honda dealership hear, who claimed to have done a 100 point inspection and replaced the brakes. Three days later my transmission quit working, and the guy at AAMCO where I took the truck for repair, pointed out the front brake rotors where badly worn, but had new pads (A big no no).

I left the shop depleting my emergency fund for $2,000. My car payment for my Tacoma is obscene, but I am regretting having to sell it, because it is so reliable compared to the truck I purchased, thinking I was getting a good deal and that it would be reliable enough to use as a work truck.
