  1. Freezer Challenge -- week 3

    Clearing the freezer before the fridge dies... beginning of week 3...

    I can see on my list how much stuff I have used up but when I open the freezer it still seems packed with containers.

    The tally so far:

    bbq ribs gone
    lamb for gyros
    puff pastry used some
    pot pie filling gone
    meatballs (dinner)
    kielbasa (dinner) gone
    tomato sauce (pizza) used some
    roasted tomatoes (pasta) used some
  2. Nov freezer challenge week 2

    I found chili and lamb in the freezer this week and have added it to the list.

    In just 2 weeks I have used all or some of 12 different items, putting me 1/3 of the way through my challenge.

    For next week's menu:

    pot pie (puff pastry and filling)
    pizza (sauce, sausage)
    chicken breast
    mushroom swiss burgers (uses 'shrooms from pizza)

    The tally so far:

    bbq ribs gone
    lamb for gyros
    puff ...

  3. Nov. freezer challenge, week 1

    Last week, before I officially started we used up the kielbasa, cheesy corn, and one of the frozen ears of corn.

    This week I am planning to use up (or put a dent in) several items from the freezer:

    tomatoes - soup
    pesto - " "
    chicken thighs - fajitas
    refried beans - " "
    cube steak
    baked beans
    bbq beef - to make the beans into bbq beans
    bbq ribs (just found these the other day)
    tomatoes - pasta ...
  4. Before the fridge dies

    Our 20 year old fridge is making really ugly noises. DH warns me it is only a matter of time before the compressor goes.

    So my challenge for November is to use up as much of this stuff as possible to make the transition easier, since our garage freezer is full and can't take this lot. Much of this is open packages or leftovers with one or two servings in them.

    puff pastry

  5. Men Sure Are Expensive

    DH told me back in May that he wanted to go clothes shopping. He works in an office, and while their dress code is pretty casual he likes to keep a neat and professional appearance, which means that as soon as something gets a hole or a stain he won't wear it to work. To his credit, he changes out of his good clothes when he gets home, to make things last longer.

    Anyway, I told him to wait until this month, because I was sure there would be Father's Day sales on mens clothing. Sure ...
