    First here's the story of the Bottom Round Roast I purchased yesterday. The main
    grocery store I shop at has been pulling some tricks lately and I'm really getting
    aggravated by this store. Here's the lastest one.

    Bottom Round Roast is advertised as a loss leader. It sells for $2.29 a pound but
    with the stores discount card they deduct $.40 a pound making it $1.89 a pound.
    So I thought, okay, good deal I'll give them a try. I don't usually buy my meats

  2. Basic Vinagarette

    4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
    4-6 tablespoons red wine vinegar
    6 tablespoons vegetable oil
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    black pepper
    water, to thin

    • In a small bowl whisk together the Dijon mustard and red wine vinegar.
    • Slowly add in 6 tablespoons vegetable oil until the mixture is thickened, then whisk in olive oil.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    • If necessary add in a small amount of water to thin.

  3. Easy Two-Egg Cake

    2 cups Self-Rising Flour
    1 cup sugar
    1 cup milk
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Combine all ingredients; beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.

    Pour batter into two greased and floured 8-inch layer pans.

    Bake in preheated oven 375 degrees 20 to 25 minutes.

    Remove from pan; cool.

    Makes two 8-inch cake layers.
  4. Easy Carrot Cake

    1 Two-Layer Yellow Cake Mix
    1 1/4 cups Miracle Whip Salad Dressing
    4 eggs
    1/4 cup cold water
    2 tsp cinnamon
    2 cups finely shredded carrots
    1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    1 16oz. tub vanilla ready-to-spread frosting

    Combine cake mix, salad dressing, eggs, water and cinnamon, mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended. Stir in carrots and walnuts. Pour into greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees, 35 minutes or until wooden ...

    Cooking spray
    4-pound lean boneless round pot roast
    16-ounce can stewed tomatoes
    6-ounce can tomato paste
    1 1/4 cups water (or undiluted fat-skimmed broth)
    1 to 2 teaspoons dried basil or pizza seasoning
    1/4 teaspoon instant garlic
