Awoke to that crisp smell in the air this morning. The one that says to your nose its time to take a deep breath and not sweat. Here in South Florida most mornings are like breathing throught a wet washcloth, damp and muggy. But when that first below 70 morning comes its a welcome relief.
We had that morning today on a Monday of all days. The dogs are frisky and bounding up and down wanting me to walk in the yard with them. As I step out into the cool predawn air my skin tingles with a chill.
I've got two of them both younger and I consider them both blessings.
My sister Missy is closest in age just 11 monthes younger than me. But Shelly is closest to me in friendship. We have always depending on each other and been close. In April my maternal grandmother passed. She was 93 years here on this planet. She was another amazing woman in my life. I've been blessed to know many.
Today I recieved a check from her estate for savings bonds she collected over her life. Its a small check of just over $4,000.00 but when you consider that she never held a paying job after she married my grandfather in 1930, its amazing. She was the meaning of frugal. She wasn't born to or with money and at age eight lost her mother. Her
I've been slicing up about 3 dozen lemons a friend gave me and my mind has been wandering all over the place. But it keeps coming back to Grandma Julia my fathers mother.
She is gone over 10 years now and I feel the loss more and more as I age. I missed out on knowing her well and have really only gotten to know her throught others and the things she left behind.

When I was a little girl in the early 60's my father was a 30 year company man. Which ment he worked for a large company, General Electric. He started there from the navy and planned to be there til he retired in 30 years. "The Company" or "Mother Generous" as my parents refererd to it, had brought us from Milwaukee to Largo Florida. In fact when GE opened its plant in Pinellas County it brought many workers from several of its northern plants.
