Getting finances under control=a more organized life??

Really, at this point I may just still be on that motivation 'high'!
But in the past few weeks I've noticed a shift in thinking.
Once I decided to get back on top of our finances and get things in order with our budget, I've noticed that I feel overall more organized.
I've been clearing things out of the house, reorganizing kitchen shelves, staying more on top of the paper 'clutter', etc.
Has anyone else felt this? Or could it just be all in my head??
My 16 ds. made a comment yesterday when something was brought up about the budget & paying off that first debt.
He said that "Mom, you're just more goal oriented than Dad, is all".
I thought that was a pretty observant comment for him to make.
But I guess in a round about way, he's right.
Mike & I just had a conversation yesterday about how, in August, the way that the paydays fall, we will end up with an 'extra' paycheck that month.
I said, "Wow! That will be great, I can put 1/2 away into our EF & the other 1/2 can go to debt #2!!!"
He said, that he thought we should take 1/2 and buy new tires for his truck!
Um, nope! Sorry 'bout that!
Not that he doesn't need tires, but we can save enough in between our car maintenance fund and our regular savings account to pay for his tires.
Also he doesn't necessarily need them by August.
They can wait until October.
That whole conversation did make me realize that in order for us to be debt free, I will have to stand my ground, dig my heels in and keep on track, if we are ever to get out of debt!
So yeah, maybe I am more 'goal oriented' than Mike, or else I am looking more at the big picture???
Anywho, I'm glad to see that the kids can realize what's going on & why.
