  1. Budgeting is affecting every aspect of my life.........

    by , 06-17-2009 at 11:06 AM
    Who wudda thunk it??

I feel more organized lately & I'm pretty sure that it comes from feeling more in control of my finances & spending.

I know I'm only into my first month of this budgeting thing but I'm already seeing a difference in other aspects of my life.

    This, I did not expect.

I'm getting back to my meal planning & am currently working up a new month's menu so that I'll have it in place for the month of July.

  2. A few more lessons learned with my C.E.S. (cash envelope system)

    by , 06-15-2009 at 02:14 PM
I had meant to post over the weekend, but I sometimes have difficulty getting logged onto the site??

A few more 'notes' that I wanted to get written down before I forgot them:

~With our C.E.S. (cash envelope system), I need to prioritize which envelopes get cash added at which time of the month.

Because obviously the envelopes need to be 'staggered' as to paydays, in order to get filled.

~I need to try to divide how much I have per envelope

  3. Cash Envelope System~part 2

I found this excellent explanation on using the Cash envelope system and wanted to post it here for others.

I know after reading it, it's helped me to figure out a couple problems that I have been encountering with my own personal C.E.V.

I'm seriously thinking about purchasing some of those zippered pencil pouches she talks about.
They are usually dirt cheap when all the school supplies go on

  4. My Cash Envelope System~simple & easy.

I thought I'd make a quick post here about my cash envelope system that we also started this month.

This month I'm using just regular 'ole mailing envelopes, regular size, not business sized.

But the other day while at Wal-mart, I purchased a 25 count box of these:
(This is just to use as reference to give you an idea of the ones that I bought).

I figured these would be much sturdier, plus
  5. Budgeting & Freedom, can they belong together?

    by , 06-09-2009 at 11:54 AM
    Most definately.

I've only been working 3 weeks with our new budget and have already come to realize that living within a budget perimeter can absolutely mean having freedom as well.

Maybe I should call it 'mental freedom' because having a budget allows me to finally know that everything is covered and I don't have to worry about what I'll do when it's time to buy a new shirt, or when we want to take a trip to the drive-in.
We know exactly how much we have in
