I tried an experiment over a year ago. Can buy everything I need with coupons, garage sales, and thrift shops. Except for underwear, I think I succeeded. I found some exceptional bargins and some flops that did not hold up.

At times I feel like I have won and other times I feel like I have lost. I have always been a thrift shop/garage sale/dumpster diving/coupon baby. I just took it to another level. Now a year later I find my bank account no bigger, my saving account not heavier. I have a budget, I scour the paper for garage sales, I reinvent my clothes I already have, I buy all my crafts supplies from thrift shops and garage sales and whom ever was throwing things away.

I have met some mean people who would throw it away than to to let you have it. There is no shame in my game. I called different business to see if they are throwing out old magazines, paper scraps, decorating books and magazines. I find beads in bins you have to dig threw, use old belts, buttons, even beads from old purses. I have revamped my wardore and accessories to get a fresh look. I scour the internet for freebies, giveaways, coupons. I am a active member of freecycle.

I could go on, but I think you get the picture. I believe we need to do all we can to save this planet. I just don't see the bottom line or the bottom line I would like to see. Money comes into my hands and goes right out. My bottom line has sunk even futher in the ground.

I wish I could say I have a stock pile, bills are decreased and more money in my savings. I wish for a lot of things. Funny, for all I do, I feel like I hav'nt moved a spot. So it is back to the drawing board. Maybe on day my frugual ways will pay off. I am still blessed.

I think you are doing great. I do not know how you would be in a better place by not doing what you have done. Not sure of your food budget? Sometimes food is wasted and that can cost more. Not sure how many you are cooking for.

Thanks for the compliment. It is only for me and my husband, but we have relatives who come by frequently and often. They are always borrowing or staying for dinner. My food bill should not be so high.
