I started watching TLC's Extreme Couponing. I have used coupons before and had great success(also I was living in bigger city, with a bigger market). Plus the Sunday paper would be available on Saturday night, so I was able to get the jump on the sales on Sunday, bright and early. I was so enthralled with the savings, I made my own notebook, joined several sites, subscribed to All you magazine. It became a life all on its own. I tried to start a couponing club, that tid not go anywhere. I tried to join a coupon train, but I never got any feedback. Buying three papers and keeping track of all the savings is a full time job. I already have one of those. This couponing thing became bigger than the savings. Don't get me wrong me wrong, I love saving money and getting some things for free. Here is my gripe.

Sometimes, buying the store brand is better than buying the name brand, with a coupon. I had become frantic about using the coupons, when clearly the store brand is available. Fights would break out between me and my husband, because he could not see my logic. Right now I can't see it so clearly either. Once I got a handle on my obsession with using coupons(I still buy papers, but I am down to two now since the price has gone up). I gather all the magazines from different offices and hospitals(I ask first). I visit the local library and they sell old and new magazines. Coupled with my Sunday papers, subscription to All you magazine and all of the other magazines that house coupons to make up. I mail out coupons to my daughter, son and niece. All three are into couponing and live in urban areas. My expired coupons to go to a military families. My magazine cost about 2.00(25 cents a piece) plus 5.00 for my papers. I signed up for the new Walgreens/AARP card. This also helps with savings.

No longer do I try to make the coupon fit. I make the purchase and make it fit around my coupon/rewards. Wish me luck
