My Journey on the Frugal Side of life

This is a personal challenge to put into action what I have learned about being frugal and to live a more purposeful life.
I have always loved to journal, this is a place I can put down my thoughts and keep myself working toward my goals and more in control of my spending. Maybe others will be inspired in some way as well.

  1. Day 5

by , 07-31-2013 at 09:25 PM (My Journey on the Frugal Side of life)
Worked my regular 8 hour shift at LTC today.
Dropped off alot of stuff at Goodwill from the garage clean up and organization.
Than went into goodwill, oh-oh, spent. Bought an extra leash to keep in the van for our dog. We always seem to forget the one we have when we have him along for a drive. This should be a purchase to make life easier for walking him on car trips. Also found two large soy candles in original plastic wrapping, one smells like lemon and one like grapefruit. They ...
  2. Day four

    Job went well today.
Stopped at grocery store that is next to my work place to check on any sales on fruit as we haven't had any in the house, bought a pound of cherries, kiwi, and orange juice for $9.42. Apples may have been more frugal way to go but I was looking for something different. The small apple tree in my backyard will soon have hundreds of apples if they continue to grow. DH has been spraying with homemade bug spray and I think it is working well. (forget what he has in it besides ...
  3. Day three

by , 07-29-2013 at 09:08 PM (My Journey on the Frugal Side of life)
My day off today after working the weekend.
Worked harder than I do at my paid job! The Queen of Clean book I am reading is getting me remotivated to continue to clean, declutter and organize. The chapter I read last night was on the entryway. My back door enters the house through the garage. I took her advice and walked up to the door and took a good look at the surroundings. Well that one look turned into 8.5 hours of cleaning the garage and walkway in front of the house. Luckily my son ...
  4. Day two

by , 07-28-2013 at 10:33 PM (My Journey on the Frugal Side of life)
Worked again today with great staff and residents. It is a pleasure to go to a job that everyone works together to get the job done. My day started off with some problems but with the help of my coworker it improved quickly.
Took another nap when I got home, feels so good after a day on your feet and the stress of caring for others all day.
Radio, t.v. off again today. Able to plan my day better with no distractions in the morning.
Sat outside with pet Adrian for awhile this ...
  5. Day one of a simpler life

by , 07-27-2013 at 10:48 PM (My Journey on the Frugal Side of life)
Today I discovered many simple pleasures during the day.
Because the computer is off limits for me until 8:30 pm (personally set goal) I got so much more done around the house.
Before work I had time to tidy up the kitchen, eat breakfast and make a to do list.
On the way to work I was so much more aware of my surroundings. When the sun is rising, the trees and farms remind me of my younger years when I would get up early for chores on the farm before school. I don't remember ...
