My Journey on the Frugal Side of life

This is a personal challenge to put into action what I have learned about being frugal and to live a more purposeful life.
I have always loved to journal, this is a place I can put down my thoughts and keep myself working toward my goals and more in control of my spending. Maybe others will be inspired in some way as well.

  1. Random acts of Kindness

"Carry out a random act of kindness with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."
    Princess Diana

I challenge all villagers to commit to one random act of kindness a week.
Together we can make a difference in others lives, in our communities, and in the world.

Tonight I'm thinking about how blessed my life is and I'm asking God to bless the lives of my readers in the days to come. So many hurting people in this world. So many struggles, pain, abuse, disrespect, sadness in this world.

Continue to love my job, the time flies by. My coworkers are awesome. I am so blessed to work in a setting that I can help others physically and emotionally. A coworker and myself are promoting a "positive attitude" workplace. Our ...

Debt repayment continues to be our goal. I found this site 7 months ago and it has continued to be a source of inspiration, motivation and education to spend more frugally, to save and to snowball debt payments.
Financially I found out today I received a 58 cent per hour raise. I'm happy with this as our census has been low and I thought no raises would be given. I'm planning to put 25 cents per hour worked towards debt repayment, this would be an extra $40 a month. Able to work some extra ...
  4. Time to buckle down

Norwegian host son left back to Norway today. I've been entertaining him past couple weeks which has taken some extra spending. Took him out for brunch today at local cafe prior to driving him to airport. Couple nights ago I bought the tickets to nephews football game and also a movie. Have filled the gas tank more than usual.
I enjoyed a day watching DH in golf tournament. He placed 3rd . He let me decide how to spend the gift certificate that needed to be used in the pro shop. Got ...
  5. staycation day

When DH gets home from work at 11 am we are heading on another road trip in the next county. We will be using our GPS to explore new parks, lakes, hiking trails with our Norwegian visitor. It will be a day trip.
DH set up double payments for the next loan repayment we will be working on. We should not miss the money in the budget because it is a snowball amount from the loan we just paid off.
Hoping DD and DS deliver their payments soon as the first week of the month is always tight ...
