(now that the first 'seen' paycheck has cleared and available)
WE DID IT!
Okay, perhaps that looks a bit overboard, but let me back-up and explain some. We made it through the first 'invisible paycheck' which means we made it through September using one paycheck and the other one was put away for the 2010/2012 plan.
Shhhh... We even had some money left over... and I bought a bed! I can't wait to see the look on my beloveds face when he bumps in to a proper bed tonight when he gets home from work in the wee hours.
The bed was bumped up on the 'need' list. We have a mattress which we have been sleeping on the floor with for about 3 years. It was getting harder for me to get up out of the bed (thanks FMS) and even the Old Man (who isn't all that old, only 31) started complaining about being on the floor.
I was roaming the aisles of Kmart (it's my exercise... and that's the story I am sticking to) this morning checking out the mattresses they sold for a neighbor who wanted to buy her ds a bunk bed from there. That's when I saw it... I knew I had to have it... and I wrestled all 40 pounds of it in to my cart! Technically, it isn't a bed... it's a "queen size steel mattress foundation" which is a frame that eliminates the need for a box spring. Perfect!
Yes, I made a big ticket purchase -- $113.00. I consider that money well spent and actually saved us money. The mattress set from the furniture store is $500, frame not included (additional $100, plus tax and delivery). We can now get just the mattress, and bring it home ourselves and save delivery charges as well as not having to buy the box spring and bed frame. We can also put off getting a new mattress for a little while longer because it isn't very old and the problem of not being able to get out of bed has been solved.
I have been spending a lot of time trying to organize my house. I actually managed to clear out a part of the living room and started to get it ready to be moved around. Did I mention... I threw almost everything from that area out??? If you know me through my posts at all, you realize I have a 'possessions' issue.
I'm starting to feel as if my life is actually getting back on track!
