The goal: How much extra money can I make this month to apply to debt?

Current balance: ZERO

In a stroke of providence, I stopped off this weekend at the store where I have my booth, and the owner mentioned she is going to have a big outdoor garage sale/craft fair this weekend. She offered me a spot for free, and I accepted.

I had been thinking about a garage sale, but I live out in the middle of nowhere, at the end of a very long and winding dead-end road. So I was pretty sure the turn-out would be pretty miserable. I also didn't really like the idea of a lot of people coming out to my home, which is hidden from view for a reason. No reason to advertise that it is sitting back there, waiting to be burglarized!

So yesterday, I started by putting about a half dozen plants (chives, rose-scented geraniums, and spider plants) into ceramic herb pots. I am going to take them and put them out for sale, along with some kitchen stuff and anything else I can find. I'm sure I have enough stuff to have a full table, even if I attended every weekend this month!!

Today, I am going to start pulling garage sale items and putting tags on them, and then putting them in the truck, so I can just get up and go this Saturday. The store owner wants to start setting up at FIVE in the morning (ouch), to get the early birds.

I am going to incorporate my change jar into this month's' challenge, so I need to count it some time today to see where I am starting.

Oooooooooh, good for you! What a great situation! You will get alot more exposure rather than at your place so I am sure you will make a ton of money. Good luck!

Good luck with the sale. Potted herbs sound like a nice idea.

That is a great opportunity!! I live way out in the middle of nowhere too! And our house is at the end of a steep washed out gravel driveway and hidden from view... etc as well... I also always felt nervous about "advertising" our location... I would love to have the opportunity to sell somewhere..

The herbs and plants are a great idea too.... let us know how it goes.
