  1. A week on the ranch (October 26 - November 1, 2009)

And just like that, another month gone.

For the first time ever in recorded history (well, at least the first time I can remember), it was NOT freezing cold on Halloween!! I always use Halloween as my deadline for outdoor projects, because even if it it 80F on October 30th, it will always be 40F by the 31st. But this Halloween, the temps stayed in the upper 70's, and I had to open the windows to cool the house off. What is the world coming to, when I can't even count on Halloween ...

Summer just doesn't want to give up. Another week of spring-like weather, and the grass in the pastures is growing like mad. It is amazing how quickly the landscape went from brown to green!

I was gone for several days this week, in Las Vegas on a business trip, so my sister and mother watched the house/animals for me. When I came home, I couldn't believe the number of soft drink bottles, prepared meal boxes, and popcorn bags that were in the trash!! You'd have thought they were here ...

But it was worth it to see everything turn green (and to get an excuse ...

I start every week's blog with a comment about how I think autumn is finally here, and then record high temps hit, and I realize that summer still has its grip on the land. However, this week was cool ALL week, so I am once again going out on a limb and stating that I think autumn in FINALLY here!! I've awakened to some very cool mornings, and the weather people are forecasting rain next week. I have noticed that it is always cold by Halloween, and I think this year will be no different.

  5. A week on the ranch (September 29 - October 4, 2009)

Autumn poked its head around the corner again, and it is once again blissfully cool at night and when I wake up in the morning!

This week was the first where I instituted a weekly and a daily "to do" list on my blog. I have to say, it is working out beautifully. It is *just* enough to keep me accountable and to get me to try to meet my daily goals. It is also a great way for me to prioritize and make sure I leave time for all the things I need to do!
