  1. Day 7 of June's Special Financial Challenge

    by , 06-08-2009 at 02:01 AM
    The goal: To raise as much money as possible this month to pay towards debt.

    The total so far: $160.27

    Found a check I never cashed for $32.40!! I guess cleaning my house was a good idea!

    I don't know how much I'll be able to do this week, although I'm gathering up things for Saturday's thrift sale. Let's hope this coming week's sale is 300% better than the last one!

  2. FreeCycle Bounty - what the hen dragged in

    by , 06-08-2009 at 01:49 AM
    Went there to get a poster, and came back with:

    • a music box metal ship (Plays Up the River when you wind the propeller);
    • hot air popcorn popper;
    • the poster;
    • a Christmas village (handmade and each house signed by a different artist);
    • a crockpot;
    • two cutting boards;
    • a fish grill thingy;
    • two Corningware pans with lids;
    • one Corningware-type pan without lid (mistake as I intended to leave it behind in case she found the lid);
    • three cool little soup-type mugs (not sure

  3. A week on the ranch (June 1 - June 7, 2009)

    by , 06-08-2009 at 12:15 AM
    First week of June!! Woo hoo!! I am a little biased, because June is my birth month, but I just really like this month. June seems to be when everything I planted starts to bear fruit, and when the weather goes from cold to comfortably cool, and it is also the month that I used to start summer break as a kid, when I was in school. So overall, nothing but good associations with this month!

    Thankfully, things at work have started to slow a bit. I was still busy every day, but ...

  4. Ground Maneuvers - June 7

    Everything is green and growing!!

    One thing that was exciting to see is that an orange tree that I've had for years is now FINALLY producing oranges! I took the pic labeled "orange and friend" and didn't even realize, until I was editing, that I had gotten a shot of the insect! I just hope the oranges continue to mature, and don't fall off.

    Every year, my pomegranates reach a certain level of maturity, and then they dry up and fall off the shrub. I'm ...

  5. Day 6 of June's Special Financial Challenge

    by , 06-07-2009 at 12:14 AM
    The goal: To raise as much money as possible this money to pay down debt

    The total so far: $144.37

    I should subtitle today's blog as "The Garage Sale That Never Was"

    As some of you know, I have been planning all week to set up at a craft/thrift/garage sale that the store in which I have my booth is sponsoring. They have been talking for some time about having a big parking lot sale every Saturday, and the owner informed me this week that ...
