    A little late posting to my blog this week. Today is actually Monday, but I'll try to confine it to the appropriate week.

    Rudy the Roo is still on his medication, and the new dosage of Baytril seems to be doing the trick. As he gets to feeling better and better, he is getting harder and harder to catch! Last night, Chester and Kracker (two more of my roosters) decided to have a dueling banjo crow-off at about 1 am. I went stumbling out, flashlight in one hand, gun in the other, ...

  2. 05/22/2009 - A Lesson Against Shopping While Hungry

    Junk, junk, junk. I worked until about 8:30pm, and I hadn't eaten all day, and this is the consequence. It would have been cheaper for me to stop at a restaurant and eat dinner and to then go grocery shopping than it was to just go straight there. I literally had about six items on my list, and this is what happened instead. Brace yourself. It is ugly.

    Frozen corn (3 bags on sale) $10.47
    Prepared macaroni salad (on sale) $2.50
    Half and Half (2 quarts) $5.98 ...

    A little late to start a gardener's year blog, but better late than never!

    For the most part, everything is going well, although the birds have already eaten all but about 2-3 of my cherries. The pluot tree produced all of ONE pluot, and the nearby plum tree was also a bust. But everything else is doing well, and I hope to be eating fresh blackberries and strawberries in a week or two!!

    Water. Eight glasses. Bare minimum.

    Exercise. Ran two miles out and walked the two miles back!! First time in a LONG while I've run the whole two miles, so I am pretty happy about it. Hoping to eventually work my way back to running the whole 5.5 death march.

    Diet. Another screwy kind of a day. I ended up working until about 7:30p, and then stopping at the grocery store on the way home, STARVING. Thus, the menu for the day was 2 cups of coffee, a small soymilk ...

    Okay, slowly getting back on track.

    Water. Eight glasses. Minimum acceptable level, but still acceptable!

    Exercise. Did my sit-ups this morning, then went for a 4-mile run/walk. After I got to work, I walked to/from the courthouse for an appointment, which was another two miles (round trip), so got a total of 6 miles in today!!

    Diet. Two cups of coffee and a chocolate Silk soymilk/banana smoothie (with multi-vitamin) for breakfast. A cup of soup ...
