A busy, busy week on the ranch!
Rudy the Rooster has been limping for almost three weeks, so I finally gave up and took him to my avian vet. Sure enough, he has an infection in his hock, so he is on antibiotics for two weeks. He is NOT happy about being force-fed bubble-gum-flavoured amoxycillin twice daily, and I can only be happy that all my roosters are nice! Otherwise, things could have gotten very, very ugly. As it is, I just have to chase a gimpy rooster around every morning

The menu for the day included: 2 cups of coffee, one yogurt with granola, one pasta salad, 2 more cups of coffee in the afternoon, one See's hard sucker (also in the afternoon), 1/2 c. roasted/unsalted sunflower seeds, another yogurt with granola, and one slice of pineapple upside-down cake. A swig of soymilk to swallow my vitamin.
Okay, okay, I slipped a little. I had the afternoon coffee to wake myself back up, and the sucker to take the taste of coffee away. No excuse for
Spent $9.50 at the farmers' market:
1 lb roasted/unsalted pistachios ($5.00)
4 onions (2 red/2 yellow) ($2.50)
3 zucchini squash ($2.00 for this and summer squash listed below)
approx 6-8 summer squash
Stopped at Safeway after reviewing my baking challenge for the month (baklava). Purchased:
2 boxes of phyllo dough $8.38
golden delicious apples (1.42 lb @ 1.99/lb) $2.83
walnuts (11.5 oz bag) $6.99
Much better day today. I got all my exercising in, including my sit-ups, push-ups, and 4 miles of running/walking. It has been raining NON-STOP for DAYS, and just after I decided I was going to go for my walk in the rain, the sun suddenly appeared in the sky, so I decided to take advantage of it. Happily, it stayed sunny the rest of the day!
Food: breakfast was yogurt with granola and 2 cups of coffee; lunch was soup; snack of 1/4 cup of roasted unsalted sunflower seeds; another
I haven't been keeping up with this, and my diet and exercise habits have been slipping with my non-accountability.
That said, today was not the best day to restart the journal, but here goes...
Eaten today: 2 cups of coffee, 1 slice of pineapple upside down cake, a yogurt with granola cereal topping, a bowl of veggie soup with a flour tortilla, a small caramel macchiato from Starbucks, approx 1/3 c. raw sunflower seeds, approx 1 c. mac and cheese, and a swig of soymilk
