  1. Holiday preparing

    by , 10-04-2011 at 02:17 AM
Under the advisement and reccomendation of several FVers, I've been poking around over at organized christmas .com. I think I've gone a bit overboard in cleaning, decluttering, and planning for the holidays. For once, I might even have Christmas cards rather than New Years cards (ha!). It's the first week of October and I actually have my wardrobe changed over, a stack for the thrift store bagged up, all the menus for Thanksgiving written out, as well as a grocery list, decoration plan, menu ...
  2. Compiling data for the annual Christmas Card

And I'm shocked at the amount of poopy stuff we've had this past year!! I've had emergency surgery, twice! One would think that as stuff comes out, an added bonus would be losing weight - nooooooo. Unfortunately, that just doesn't happen.
A coyote got one rooster (the other ticked us off, so we got him). Two of our lady chickens have died, with random symptoms, if any.
DFIL passed away. DMIL lives next door, and I am so thankful we are right here.
One of the two wells sprang ...

This past Saturday DH and I went to the Tunbridge, VT World's Fair. We took seldom (to us) roads, as ther's no easy way to get "theah from heah" as the locals will put it. We were both flabber ghasted at the amount of damage there still is, and at hastily re-done sections of road a HALF-MILE in length that were just gone, not moved from here to there, but gone. The grey sediment has dried on trees and lawns, easily 40 feet above the level of the brooks and streams now.
  4. Ready for anything, I hope!

On my way to the garden, day before last, my foot sank into a wet, muddy, quicksand-like mess. It turned out we had a leak from the well to the houseline. What a mess! Thank goodness DH is super handy, and that the rental place had an excavator! Oh, and of course DH accidentally ripped up the power to the garage, the chickens AND the line from the generator to MIL's house, *sigh*. It never ends . . .
Get back inside and all the pilot lights are out on the stove, and now my toilet is running ...
