  1. June 2011~The Loses

    Let's see...where to start?

At the end of March I got 25 baby chicks. This is the first time I have ever raised chickens. All of them survived from the brooder to the coop... however about a month ago something got into the coop and killed 7 of them. We haven't had any other problems until this morning. I went to go feed them around 6:30 this morning and what do I see...2 coyotes at the coop. We lost 3 more baby girls this morning. So now we have to reinforce the coop or something. ...

  2. Couponing My Way to Savings

    by , 09-20-2009 at 06:39 PM (SandNOceanGirl's Blog)
Time for an update!! I have gotten into couponing (almost an addiction...okay maybe a full blown addiction!). I have started keeping track of my savings from couponing and since August 1st, I have saved $324.79. I am so proud of myself and am inspired each month to save more and more.
I have been able to add things to my stockpile...which is slowly but surely growing!

So far this month I have added:
    18 boxes of hamburger helper
    2 cans of shaving gel
    3 packs ...

  3. Been Away Way Too Long

    by , 06-26-2009 at 10:30 AM (SandNOceanGirl's Blog)
I have been away from the Village way too long. It has been several months since I have fallen off the wagon but now I am brushing myself off and getting back into the wagon. I know it is going to be a bumpy ride but I can do it!
I am starting out slow so I don't get overwhelmed and fall again.
The first thing I am going to work on is the emergency fund. It may only be $20-$30 a month but it will add up in no time.
My boyfriends pay is going to be cut about $800 a month for one ...

This has been a very busy and unpredicable month. dd#2 decided that she didn't want to be homeschooled anymore. With her deciding that it meant that she had to move back to Mississippi to live with her dad to go to public school. The public school where we are zoned for is a very very bad district that is why we were homeschooling to begin with. So over Christmas break she went back to Mississippi and is happily back in public school. That is why I am offering the ebooks to anyone ...

  5. January~Freezer Items

    by , 01-17-2009 at 10:30 AM (SandNOceanGirl's Blog)
Well, I just wanted to say that I didn't do as good as I wanted to on this months freezer items. Since it was the first of the challenges, I am learning for the months to come.
But so far (and probably the rest of the month) this is what I added to the freezer stockpile:
    *6 lbs of hamburger
*8 1/2 lbs of chicken (legs and thighs)
    *3 lbs bacon
