    The much anticipated rain did not materialize today so we were able to get some work done in the garden. We harvested the last eight heads of cabbage and the last of the green onions. This emptied one bed with the exception of two rows of beets. I tilled the ground and planted second crop corn and beans. We also planted more summer squash and cucumbers elsewhere in the garden. We will freeze the cabbage tomorrow. It should have been done today, but by the time we were done, we were both hot ...
  2. It just gets better and better

    After my disappointment with my beets, we had a massive storm this afternoon. It brought with it torrential rains, high wind and hail. So much for planting tomorrow. Mine was such a simple plan. Harvest and put up lots of beets on Friday, plant on Saturday, then rain on Sunday. Oh well, life goes on and things will get done when they get done.
