  1. A Life Without Debt: Getting By In Tough Times

    by , 08-05-2009 at 05:10 PM ([email protected]'s Blog)
One of the things you learn when you live a life committed to being debt free is how to get by in tough times. Weíve had our share of lean years, emergencies, and layoffs and yet weíve always managed to remain debt free. The worst time I can remember was after we were first married and were both working low paying jobs. I think we were making about $28,000 between the two of us. We didnít have much in savings at the time because we hadnít had time to build up much of a nest egg. I think we had maybe ...
  2. Little House on the Prairie Financial Lessons

    by , 08-05-2009 at 04:55 PM ([email protected]'s Blog)
I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie in the 70ís. Each episode had a moral to it, but it wasnít until I staged a marathon viewing session courtesy of Netflix that I realized how many of those episodes dealt with the subject of money in some form. Maybe some of my money habits did come from TV, after all.

If you have kids and want to teach them some solid lessons about money this summer (or just for your own enjoyment) here are the episodes that dealt most heavily with money ...

by , 03-26-2009 at 09:44 AM (fixer's food for thought)

After I walked him, I fed both dogs and took them out again in the rain. Then, I made the mistake of sitting down to drink some coffee. The puppy crawled into my lap and promptly fell asleep. Sitting there listening to him snore and the rain hitting the roof was so relaxing. I have always struggled with the balance between work and play. ...

  4. That old familiar feeling

by , 03-15-2009 at 11:05 PM (fixer's food for thought)
Today, while walking the dog, I couldn't help noticing how everything is starting to green up around here. Every trip I would see more things that need to be done this spring. It seems as if I am always behind in my work. At least I feel as though I am. A good year is contingent on things getting do in a timely manner this time of the year. The weather dictates when things can get done so planning ends up being an exercise in futility. Dw makes sure I know all that needs doing by constantly ...

  5. Extra Income

by , 01-12-2009 at 05:59 PM (Frugal Lifestyle? Can I Keep Up With Myself)
As of this week I am getting my hours at work cut, to around 3 days a week from 5 days. I am glad I have turned frugal so I don't need to freak out about this, itís perfectly fine.

I sell on eBay and it does well, I always have stock and shouldn't run out for a while. I worked out that to make up for what I am losing at work I will have to sell at least £9 worth of stock a day or about £60 a week. So far since the beginning of last week I have made £195 plus I have £40 in my PayPal ...
