Kind of like the Quebecois from les Iles de La Madeleine.

They speak totally different than other regions in Quebec or Canada.
It is very similar to the Acadians.

ok, just found this thread....a bit late but i'm joining in anyways!!!

I second Gabe's suggestion with camping/canoeing in Parc National de la Mauricie, fantastic place! for mountain biking and hiking too! you can go for week long hikes if you're into that! it's huge!!

for a great road trip i suggest going around the Gaspesie peninsula.

I'm originally from Trois-Rivieres but spent about 7 years in Montreal. As a kid i visited a whole bunch of places in the province for vacations as my parents like to visit new things but don't speak much English. So it was convenient. Beautiful province.

Yeah, well, living in the US, I had to work and finding decent FRESH cheese curds for a poutine is technically impossible here....so i had my fill a couple weeks before when my husband and I visited my folks for the weekend. Hadn't had poutine in over a year, it was scrumptious!!

I did load up my ipod with music for the occasion for my commute

I was introduced to cheese curds in CNY; I was unaware of them when I lived in WNY. I also have no idea (and am not sure I want to know) what sort of freshness you are speaking of, but maybe cheese curds are a regional thing here and CNY curds might be better suited?

hummm...maybe, i'll have to give it a shot someday....when i say fresh i mean no more than 24 hours and never refrigerated, it needs to "squeak" big time! ideally with a little brine at the bottom of the bag, yum! I have yet to find some....

What I would do, is try some un-fresh curds, find some that you like, then contact the farm directly. Especially with the economy in the toilet right now, I'm sure they'd be happy to work something out. You might need to do some driving to pick them up though, but just do other things wherever you are, like [sarcasm]visit closed state parks or something.[/sarcasm]

not a bad idea, thanks so much, we'll see what we can do about that...
ah yes, it was brilliant to close the state parks, bunch of geniuses! (i love sarcasm)

I live in the Chateauguay Valley, about 62 miles southwest of Montreal, Quebec. Though part of my year is spent in Enterprise, Alabama, home of Fort Rucker Army Aviation !

    Hey gang,
I think I'm the only one Quebecois French here
I'm from Montreal. I was born here, and I love my city.
I hope there will be other members who will join me
No need to specify that google translation works hard for me.

QCmom$$$ - Are you serious that you have to use Google translation? Really? Aren't you bilingual and can speak/write English?

QCmom$$$, you're not the only Frenchie around I'm just not quite active on here anymore...I guess life happens hehehe Bienvenue a bord!

QM, Google translation is a joke and not every Quebecois speaks or write English (my dad doesn't and my mom got much better since I married an English speaker hehehe)...do you speak or write French yourself? But I have to admit that if someone lurks around a forum like this one, their English is at least fair. I think she was joking on that one
