    Default Spaghetti Pie

    Spaghetti Pie

    Recipe Description
Similar to lasagna, but with spaghetti noodles. A little twist! ;-)
    Preparation Steps:
    chop the onion
    chop the green pepper
You can make ahead the meat mixture for when you're ready to get the "crust" ready
    Level of Difficulty:
    Easy
    Time Needed:
approx. 20 minutes plus cooking time
    Ingredients:
12 oz spaghetti, cooked and drained
    4 Tbsp margarine
    1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
    2 well beaten eggs
    1 lb ground beef
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1/4 cup chopped green pepper
    8 oz can chopped tomatoes
    6 oz can tomato sauce
    1 tsp sugar
    1 tsp oregano
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp garlic salt
    1 cup cottage cheese
    Serves:
    6
    Directions:
With first 4 ingredients make "crust" in 10 inch pie dish. Cook meat, onion and pepper until tender and meat is browned. Drain off excess fat. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread cottage cheese over "crust" and fill with tomato/meat mixture. Bake covered in 350 degree F oven for about 60 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle with 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese. Bake until cheese is melted.

Note: You can also replace the can of chopped tomatoes and can of tomato sauce with a jar of thick spaghetti sauce.

Variation - Put meatballs (instead of the meat mixture) on top of the cottage cheese and pour spaghetti sauce over them.

I'm making this recipe for supper for the first time. I'll let you know how it turns out. Should be good! The true test is whether it passes DH's approval.

It was a success and very yummy. I gave him 1/4 of the pie plate to start...You know it's good when your hubby has seconds.

Could you be more specific when you say to make a "crust" out of the first four ingredients? Do I just mix those ingredients together and press them to the pie pan or...what? LOL sorry I hope this isnt a dumb question

Perfect! I wanted to make lasagna today and ran out of lasagna noodles. So I'll be trying this tonight.

I used to make something like this several years ago and misplaced the recipe. I think I only used 1 egg though.

I have meatballs in the freezer, I think I"ll be making this for a quick supper tonight, with a salad on the side.
