Question How to make chocolate covered spoons?

I'm getting married in about 2 weeks and I thought a nice but frugal touch would be to serve chocolate covered spoons to stir in coffee. I have chocolate wafers in my cupboard and was able to purchase enough fancy gold plastic spoons for $3.00 yesterday.

I've tried melting the chocolate in the microwave on half power and still have some lumps and its too thick. Should I add cream or something? Someone please help!

I don't know if this works for spoons, but to make chocolate covered fruits or pretzels, I add a little bit of shortening to my chocolate.

I'm sure someone else here will know what to do specifically for spoons, though!

Yes, that's right, just a little......If it's still lumpy. you no doubt have seized chocolate...... this is from water or moisture getting in your chocolate.......

Thanks ladies for the suggestion of using shortening. I've completed making about 80 chocolate covered spoons and drizzled white chocolate on them. They turned out very pretty.
