chocolate sugar cookies
1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 lb. semisweet chocolate
1/4 cups unsalted butter, room temp
3/4 cups packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350. In bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
In double boiler over gently simmering water, melt half the chocolate. Remove from heat and set aside.
In large bowl mix at medium speed, beat the butter, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add the melted chocolate and mix with wooden spoon until smooth.
With mixer on low speed, gradually add flour mixture and beat until just combined. Add reserved chopped chocolate and nuts. Drop 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased baking sheets about 2" apart. Bake 12-13 mns, or until puffed and set. Cool on baking sheets a minute, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
