Hot chocolate in packets vs making it yourself
I was just wondering if all of you buy your hot chocolate in packets or do you make it yourself. If you make it yourself do you have a recipe you could share.
thanks in advance

Neither - Sam's sells a huge jug of the mix that you scoop out the amount you need per serving. It only costs like $6 and lasts forever.

I also buy it in the huge container (1.8Kg), but it costs $10 here and doesn't last forever
My daughter drinks hot chocolate several times at day. The big tin is considerably cheaper than the individual packets.
I made my own once out of extremely high quality cocoa, grated milk chocolate, and sugar. She won't touch it. Which reminds me, I need to think of something I can make with a big bag of chocolate...

I use homemade!
I tried making some for christmas gifts, and I found out that I love it, as did the people who I gave it to for gifts. I'm not sure what the recipe is, as I got it from a website and don't have it saved anymore...but it has unsweetened cocoa powder, powdered milk, nondairy coffee creamer and sugar. I keep it in glass jars and put 2 or 3 teaspoons in a cup of milk or water (milk tastes the best). If you google homemade mix you'll find it...you could also simply heat milk, put in cocoa powder and sugar and it'd be the same I think... but this way I have mix that I can just add to hot water or milk.

I make it myself. As a matter of fact I played around with a custom mixture for my daughter for her birthday and she love it! To make it by the cup I use 1 teaspoon of cocoa; 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/3 cup of dry milk and water. You can add alittle cream or coffee creamer to make it richer if you like. I added a pinch of ciinimon to my daughter's. We also like mini marshmellows it ours. Enjoy!

I make it myself, though I prefer the store bought stuff.
and I go to Tim Horton's occasionally for hot chocolate as a treat. Yum!

Depends. If I'm awfully busy and stressed, or craving tiny marshmallows, I buy it. If not, I make it not just for frugality but because I read that the health gains from cocoa are dependant on the actual cocoa content, and that most commercial mixes don't actually have much - hence it is healthier to use real cocoa, or to use real chocolate with a high cocoa content.

No milk here, or my insides would hurt. If I ever need a fix, I buy chocolate soy milk.

But is there a recipie for a sugarfree homemade mix? Or one that uses sweetener? I know Im trying to cut out the sweetener use but sometimes you just gotta have something chocolatey and for me its usually SF hot choc/cocoa.
