Preserves Bars
Recipe DescriptionThese bars are quick, easy, delicious and you are only limited to the types of preserves you can find.Preparation Steps:
I've made different flavors so far, and every one a winner. Always a treat when tucked away in a lunchbox.
Credit given where credit is due, I found the original apricot recipe on thepioneerwoman.comPreheat oven to 350*Level of Difficulty:easyTime Needed:15 prep / 35 cookingIngredients:1 1/2 cups flourServes:
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 3/4 sticks (regular, salted) butter, cut into pieces
1 10-12 ounce jar preservesdepends on how big you cut your squaresDirections:Mix all ingredients except preserves.
Press one half of the mixture into a buttered 8″ square (or small rectangular) pan.
Spread with a 10-12 ounce jar of preserves.
Sprinkle second half of mixture over the top and pat lightly.
Bake at 350 for 30 - 40 minutes or until light brown.
Let cool completely, then cut into squares

I have made this recipe with whole wheat flour. DH had a taste test with his colleagues . They thought it was similar to a nutigrain bar in taste. Some thought it tasted to healthy and didn't like it.
My kids love it.
I need to make some more.
