5 lb box of chicken livers what would you do?
So the other day I was in Food Lion and huge noticed a box of Tyson chicken livers in the frozen section. I thought about it a few times and finally went back through before I left the store and got it.
What I thought, was that it was a box of breaded, frozen chicken livers.
What I got was a 5 lb block of frozen livers. I will have to defrost the whole block or use a chain saw to cut it up.
anyways, I have decided to put it in the fridge to thaw and then spend a day of cooking them into recipes and freezing the final product.
What would you make?
Also, as a heads up, if you buy a 5 lb box of chicken livers, make sure they say "breaded".
Thanks

Don't get mad, but I simply couldn't resist when I saw the subject line my immediate mental response was 'vomit'.

Throw it in the compost bin. Deep in the compost bin.
I'm not especially comfortable with eating something that is used to clean out an animal's fluids. Good luck.

lol I really expected to see some positive responses from FV'ers.... no offense intended people, but you all are such a diverse group that I fully expected to be the first one to be going "Ewww, gross." Guess not..
Do livers go in stuffing? Can you freeze stuffing if so?
I know they sell breaded, fried ones down here at a few of the fast food joints. I guess fried and then frozen might be
You're on your own with this one lol. Sorry.

LOL, well I know gizzards, hearts, and necks go in stuffing (right? lol), I just wasn't sure about the livers....my bad
Good to know though...as you can see, I'll be needing a recipe if I plan on making stuffing this year.
This actually made me think of something.. There was a free sample offer awhile back from a small family owned company someplace in the Appalachians. They made cat and dog treats out of dehydrated chicken livers. I ended up getting the sample and my cat (who NEVER has eaten treats before) gobbled them up so fast. So...if you have a dehydrator...might be an idea for at least a couple pounds of 'em.

Uh oh... well, maybe my family is abnormal lol (for your sake, I hope so
) My father's side is VERY French though, so....that may have something to do with it. That stuff only went in the stuffing if they didn't get eaten by themselves before hand
I've never been an organ fan, but I'm the minority in my family. On another note, I'm really curious if OP is going to get any "real" ideas, cuz I honestly don't know what you use livers for.

Stuffed bell peppers
sauteed into stir frys
sauteed with mushrooms and rice for a side dish
diced up into stews
Halloween treats
I don't know, just guessing here.

Yeah, I have more animals than any "normal " person so no dehydrator needed. I would just divide it into plastic bags and freeze.
lol. When I was a little girl we used to get the best stuffing, very peppery, at a place called "Nickerson Farms" in Fowlerville ,MI. I just loved it. It had liver in it. Which my Dmom had to tell me. Never ate it again. But I have to say I also never hear of any other organ meat in stuffing either. To each hid own though. Every year we throw out that fatty piece at the bottom of the turkey.Name?? DSIL,also French says her family fights over who gets it. Well, she can always have ours!!
mndtrp-Halloween treats? What are you related the "The Muensters" or something??
