Need tips/advice on how to make gourmet cocoa mix

I just treated myself to buy a $6.79 can of Mint Chocolate Chunk cocoa mix. I had a cup of it and it was SO delicious.

I would love to make my gourmet cocoa mix but only want to make a small batch. I tried using "Google" but didn't find much infomation or recipes.

I was wondering if I could use a coffee grinder or a small chopper and use ingredients for flavor like mint, spices, herbs from tea bags, candies or chocolate chunks etc. & mix in my cocoa mix but I don't know if that would work.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Jill,

Can't really suggest anything other than for you to look at the list of ingredients on the packet/container of the cocoa mix that you bought. That would give you some ideas about how to go about making your own gourmet cocoa mix.

Please let us know how you go with this, as I too am interested.

I wouldn't know how to do the mint chockolate chunk kind, but a friend made so "gourmet hot chockolate" mix for Christmas gifts. She made regular mix and added kool aide to flavor. I got the raspberry one as my gift. Alex loved it after sledding.

I agree with frugallil about looking at the ingredients on the can. I did that with a salt-n-spice bottle from the store and have managed to come pretty close to cloning it.
