ISO tried and true crockpot recipes
I know there are tons of crockpot recipe sites out there, but I am looking for ones that you've tried and that are really good. I want to build up my collection before the warm weather hits--no a/c here
Thanks

how about a good chicken stew? into your crock pot put cooked diced up chicken as much as your family will eat, I always use leftovers, cubed potatos and carrots, you can add onions, pepers and seasonings, I use salt, peper, garlic powder, and seasoning salt, then mix together with 1-2 cans of cream of chic soup or mix (chic-mushroom, chic-celery) add water to thin....you decide how thin or thick you want its great either way...I very seldom use recipe's most of my tried and true's are just done by judging. This stew is very good but I must warn its filling esp when made thick...you dont go hungry after some of this stew

Beef or Pork roast w/ mushroom gravy
3 lb roast
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 soup can water
1 diced onion
1 envie Onion Soup Mix
diced potatoes
baby carrots
In CP, combine soup, water, onions, onion soup mix. Add roast and cook on low 4 Hrs.
After 4 hrs, add potatoes and carrots. Turn heat up to high and cook another 2 hrs. Serve with fresh crusty bread.
**As a side note, I add my carrots during the last hr of cooking instead of the last 2. I like my carrots still crispy, but heated through.
Sweet and Sour keilbasa
1 lb keilbasa, chopped into bite size peices
1 Cup grape jelly
2 Cups ketchup
mix jelly and ketchup in CP. Add chopped keilbasa and cook on low for about 3 hrs. Serve over white rice or noodles.
Chicken with Mushroom Wine Sauce
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves**
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 diced onion
1/2 clove garlic
1/4 C white wine (or chicken broth if you prefer)
1 can (4 oz) mushroom peices
Combine all ingredients in CP excpet for chicken, and mix thoroughly. Place chicken in Cp and spoon sauce over it. Cook on low 8 hrs, serve with noodles.
** I prefer chicken quarters in the CP than chicken breasts. The breasts seem to come out dry, where as the legs and theighs come out so moist and tender, they fall off the bone.
BBQ Turkey Sloppy Joes
2 lbs ground turkey
2 medium onions, chopped
2 15 oz cans tomato sauce
1 6 oz can tomato paste
1/2 C packed brown sugar
1/3 C red wine vinegar
2 T Worcestershire sauce
2 T Liquid Smoke
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
ground pepper to taste
8 bulkie rolls
In a skillet, brown turkey and onions. Transfer to CP and add reamining ingredients (except rolls, of course) and cook on low 6-7 hrs. Let cool atleast an hour (with cover off) since this will be nuclear hot!!!! Serve on bulkie rolls. Also comes out great if you simmer it on the stove.
These are a few of my favorite recipies. Hope you enjoy!
