Slow Cooker - Baked Potao Soup

With potatoes being on sale right now I thought I'd share a recipe:
5lbs. peeled and 1/2in. diced potatoes
1 large onion chopped
4 - 14oz. cans chicken broth
3 t. salt
2 t. pepper
1 stick butter (you can add only 1/2 a stick)
1 1/2 c. milk
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
Optional Garnishes:
chives
sour cream
bacon crumbles
shredded cheddar
1. In slow cooker put first 6 ingredients and stir.
2. Cook on low for about 6-8 hours or high for about 4 hours. Check the tenderness of the potatoes to make sure they are done.
3. Mash the mixture until the soup is slightly thickened then add the milk and cheese stirring well.

With all the salt in canned broth do you really need 3 more teaspoons?

I wasn't sure what I'd be making for dinner tonight until I saw this recipe. I'm going to see if I have enough potatoes, and then I'll throw this in the crockpot.
