Tips for Failure - Or - How to Guarantee a Life Of Being Broke
I've been struggling with how to start this topic for some time now. All the time we see tips for success, keys to getting ahead, etc. What I wanted to do was compile a list of things that, if done, will guarantee not just financial failure, but a life of mediocrity, misery and missed opportunities.
The idea behind the thread is not sarcastic, but to serve as a check list for people to compare themselves to, in order to find things in their lives to stop doing.
My hope is that FV members will both add their serious thoughts about things people do to ruin their chances of success to this thread, and also review this thread and look for any of these behaviors that they may be engaging in, so that they can change their behaviors.
So, here are a few that top my "How To Fail" list:
- Take No Responsibility - Blame everything that happens to you on someone or something else. When you blame someone else, you surrender your power to control your own destiny to the person blamed. Don't give any consideration to people who tell you, "well the situation you are in is a result of the decision you made days, weeks, months, or years ago" - it's a vicious lie designed to ruin your self-esteem!
- Live Short Term - Whatever you feel like doing today, do it, and don't worry about tomorrow. It's all out of your control anyway, so you may as well just enjoy yourself.
- Don't Be a Sap - Make sure any time someone gives you an opportunity that you take absolutely everything you can from it while giving as little as possible back. They're only out to screw you over, so screw them over first.
- Risk Nothing - Lose Nothing - Don't take unnecessary chances - you might fail! Always play it totally safe and never try anything new. If you stop and think about it, you can come up with a long list of things that can go wrong with any new ideas, and you know they WILL go wrong, so why bother trying?
I've got more, but thats a good start.
What are YOUR tips for failure?
