Yep, they've been taking Discover here for quite some time. They have signs even in the window to let people know. Several of them around here do.

For what it's worth, Aldi is the only place we shop. Millville is made by the Malto-Meal company. I think it was salmonella, not botulism, and it was in their name brand cereals too. They make many of the bagged cereals you find at other grocery stores ie. Frootie Tooties vs Fruit Loops.

Aldi takes my debit card & it has a Visa logo

I agree their produce is hit or miss. Lately ours has been really on top of removing the less than fresh stuff.

I have a usual list of the same things when I go to Aldi:
    ~pretzel sticks
    ~graham crackers
    ~light ranch dressing
    ~eggs
    ~milk
    ~hearts of romaine
    ~cottage cheese
    ~canned beans
    ~canned tomatoes
    ~Aldi's version of "rotel"
    ~canned fruit (usually mandarin oranges)
    ~salt for our water softener
    ~paper plates
    ~spaghetti o's
    ~apples
    ~bananas
    ~oranges
    ~zucchini
    ~tomatoes
    ~lettuce
    ~broccoli
    ~grapes
    ~pineapple
    ~potatoes
    ~onions
    ~frozen boneless skinless chicken breast
    ~wheat bread
    ~hamburger and hot dog buns
    ~english muffins

I shop at Aldi's some. I have to agree with the other poster, the produce is hit or miss.

We talked about this more tonight. We have a Walmart superstore right in our backyard, just about while the Aldi is two towns away. My wife already does most of our groceries at Walmart instead of the local regional grocery chain. Compared to Walmart, there's not a lot of saving at Aldi from what we saw. Compared to the regional grocery chains, though, there is a big price difference.

We shop at Aldi all the time and have very few complaints. The children DO NOT like their cereals, and I have to agree that the generic Cheerios are awful, but I eat the Light & Fit line of cereals and like them just fine. Their breads and chips are much cheaper than Walmart's and are just as good. Their cuts of meat aren't all that good, but what we do like the little bacon wrapped filets. Other than their cereal, the only other thing we will not buy there is soda...it tastes BAAAAAD.

I really like Aldi's. Today I got seedless watermelon B1G1F ($4.99) and cantalope B1G1F ($1.99). I buy a big bag of stir fry vegetables with sauce for $3. They have these great ice cream cones with carmel in the middle for a very good price. I haven't bought them this year yet, but last year I think they were $1.99for 6. Today milk was $1.59. I like one of their Millville cereals that is a special purchase meaning they don't carry it regularly so when they do I stock up on it. There cream of mushroom, chicken, celery soups are good and the price is even better.
Thats what I can think of right now.

CP, I buy that stir-fry bag too. It's really good and a great price.

Okay, don't buy the wheat wraps in the freezer section. I love the good real wraps, but theirs was yucky. I just noticed they carried them yesterday for the first time.

I like aldi's! I haven't found much that I haven't liked there! Oh wait...I don't like their coffee...but I'm a coffee snob....so that's just me...my dad likes their coffee...so it's all a matter of taste! Produce is usually pretty good, Milk prices are awesome. Also a biggie, soymilk, is really good priced there! My kids love it...so I don't mind purchasing it there! I don't buy toilet paper or paper towels there though...they just don't last as long a the name brand ones. But over all I'm fairly happy with our aldi's and it's products!

I have never been in an Aldi. We have one being built now. I'll try it. I have a friend in Ohio who shops nowhere else.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I think you will like it and save a bunch. I shop about 70%ish there and fill in with other places. I find the majority of the stuff there good.

mek42 thanks for starting this thread. They are opening up an Aldi across the street from Costco. Shopping at Aldi could make my trip to Costco even more money saving, especially since I drive 45 minutes to get there. My sister has an Aldi by her but she only shops there once in a while (she's a bit of a food store snob, lol). Some of her friends shop at Aldi and love it! This thread has given me a great list of items to try and note the prices.

The Walmart here has no competition except the major grocery chains. Their prices are not always the lowest. I have to keep a close eye on them. I can not wait to try Aldi!
