My salvage Grocery trip
Well, the trip to the salvage grocery was sooooo worth it. It was very clean, tidy and organized. And the prices were terriffic!!! It was in an out of the way spot, on the outskirts of town, but in a nice area. Many of the boxes and cans were in perfect condition. They also had a dairy section and a HBA section. I got an overflowing cart full of groceries for 61.68 (I was overcharged by a few dollars though, so it would have been 58.60). Most cereals were 1.79, a so-so price. I try to do better with a sale/coupon deal, but still good. Potato and rice mixes were .49/box, a 12 pack of yo-go's 1.19, 5# sugar 1.29, 5# flour .89, cake mixes .33 each, granol bars 1.29/box, Kool-aid .05/pkg, chips .40/bag. etc.
I think it is definately worth checking into if you have one in your area. I also realized there is one rigth off the highway on the way to the airport, so when DH travels, I can stop without going out of the way. yeah!

I love my salvage grocery. My kids know how much we save that they have told friends moms about it. Ours has a tendency to get a little overwhelmed from time to time but the deals make it more than worth it.

I'm glade your trip went better then mine. We drove way out of our way, and it wasn't even there. We got map quest directions, guess what? They hadn't updated it to reflect that the area had been turned into a subdivision. SO unless the store was in someone garage it wasn't there.

I wish I knew if we had one around here. I'm thinking we don't as I have tried every word combination I could think of in a google search!
I'm glad you had such great luck though!

I wish I could find one closer here. When we go to my aunt's house we stop at a farm there and get lots of good deals.
