Home Depot's 1-2-3 of Home Repairs
We bought this book for SIL and my husband's aunt for Christmas. As such, we also got one for ourselves. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to do their own projects without the need for a contractor for everything!
The book retails for about $29 CDN and I'm sure they have it on their website.
It's fantastic because it tells you all of the materials you will need, has pictures and step-by-step instructions on how to do everything from painting concrete floors to repairing drywall.

That is an excellent book. It helps you understand a project and see that it really is not that hard. I wish people would just try to do things they want. Then , they would see that all it takes is effort and perseverance.

Yup that is so true. We've done so many things in our home that we never would have thought possible 10 years ago.
One thing I do have to say, we have the absolute worse Home Depot. It's in the city where we shop. They are unfriendly and help little when you ask them a question. So a book like this would be very helpful, especially for us.
