    Default Forever Stamps

I was not sure where to post this. So if this is the wrong forum, I apologize.

I don't mail many things. Example - I am just finishing up a big roll of 41 cent stamps that I bought extra 2 cent and then extra 1 cent stamps to add up to the correct amount.

Last week I bought 100 Forever stamps on eBay (1st Class. They would have cost me $44 IF I could find a post office that carried them. I paid $40 and got free shipping. That is a $4.40 savings. AND when stamps go up next year (I forget what month) my savings will be even larger.

Plus I have them here when I need them. We only mail 1-2 things a month. So the stamps will last a long time. Heck, they will probably last through TWO postal increases.

I debated on buying a roll for my dad.

Its 54 cents to mail a letter within Canada now, I think after a certain day in Jan 2010 it goes up to 57 cents!

    Stockpile much?

Forever stamps are off the plan. The post office worker told me they lost a lot of money on them.

    ceashels,

I searched the USPS website and Google. I found no reference to the forever stamps being discontinued.

Okay. Would somebody please tell me how they can offer such large $$ amounts on ebay for these stamps ?
I would think only a post office could sell them. Or a place that is authorized to sell them.

Our post office is still selling them. They have them in stock. I need to pick up stamps for the business Monday and hope I remember about the Forever ones. I will get both the regular and a roll of the Forevers for when they go up.

What? Thanks for the warning. I hadn't heard that and will be investigating it. I stocked up a bit before the last increase but will see if I can get more. Will head to ebay if I have to.

They ARE still going to honor them aren't they??? For whatever the amt. is at the time you use them?

What?? Forever just got shorter too. This is a strange world. Never thought of buying stamps off ebay. Must be off my game. I used to buy coupons that way too.

I try to stretch our dollars as far as possible. My goal is to NEVER pay full price and to get the most value for my money.

I have been selling on eBay since 2003, my own website and Amazon since 2008, and Bonanzle since a few months ago. I ALWAYS check out local store pricing and then check online. I can generally get things cheaper online (including shipping) and have things delivered to my front door.

I routinely save 1/3 to 1/2 (sometimes more) on most anything I buy. We don't have much money, but I sure can stretch it! I try to "inform" friends and family and they look at me like I am crazy. Yeah, crazy like a fox.

I hear excuses like I don't have time, it is not worth my while, etc. I have lots more time than money - LOL. I know people that don't use coupons or send in manufacturer's rebates!

Planning ahead, organization, and a little searching can save you A LOT OF MONEY.

I have no idea! MAYBE the post office gives a discount to companies that purchase HUGE amounts. Then those places turn around and sell some or all of them and make a small profit. There probably isn't a lot of profit in each sale, but if they have lots of sales they make a decent amount of money.

I was only passing on what the worker at the local post office told me. If they are still for sale... totally awesome.

I'll ask at my post office this coming week.
Maybe they won't be making anymore but still have current stock to sell. Guess it's time to stock up
