Does your child's school have a music program?
And if so, are they involved in it?

Absolutely and band is a requirement in this household, lol.
Ashlee plays the drums in concert band, and is in the sideline percussion section of the marching band. She plays timpani for that.
Raechel plays trumpet in the 8th grade band this year.
DH and I are both trombone players, I still play in church every Sunday

There is music class every other day, alternating with gym class. Kids are in 4th and 1st grade

We have a really great music program. They have 2 classes a week plus band two mornings a week and a jazz band. Last year they went to Regional Competition and won a Gold and then went on to win a Silver at Nationals.
DS #1 chose not to take music in highschool. BUt DD is taking it this year plus band she plays alto sax. DS#2 plays clarinet and he also plays in the band at Air Cadets (which is like free music lessons)
DD and I also sing at church and are part of an ensemble.
But here in Ontario if a school chooses to have a music program the teacher comes out of their total allotment for the school. In other words they lose a teacher from something else.

We have a terrific music program. All of my kids used to play in the band.
Of course my oldest graduated a couple years ago- he won the John Phillips Suesa award.
#2 ds played the clarinet in the band, until the band teacher and the football coach both refused to budge. He couldn't be in both places at the same time, and neither would allow him to miss. He chose football over band.
dd- is currently playing the bari sax and loves it. She in the marching band, concert band, jazz band- and is also in the chorus.
