How Do You Find Ways To Be Charitable When Money Is Tight?
The world is full of places and causes that could use financial donations. Hunger, disease, homelessness — all are causes worthy of charitable giving. But what if you don’t have much money? Are you locked out of charitable donations? Fortunately, the answer is no. There are multiple ways you can make a difference to worthy causes — and as an added bonus, people who give to others are happier. How to Be Charitable When You Don’t Have Much Money

My cell phone has a minimum quarterly fee. I don't use all the minutes purchased and the balance carried over kept increasing. I started doing text-to-donate.
SurveyMonkey Contribute lets you designate a participating charity to receive 50 cents every time you complete a survey. I have completed enough surveys to contribute $30 to AKC Humane Fund (there are others you can designate.)
I have rewards cards to PetCo and PetSmart. Whenever they send a coupon for free dog/cat food, I pick it up and when I have several I take them to the "pet pantry". Of course you could do the same for non-perishable human food.

I can only afford 15.00 a month to charity this year. We have an animal rescue farm in our town so that is where i am donating this year. They take in any kind of animal for as long as needed.
I hope to up it to 25.00 a month next year.
My survey sites have an option to donate when turning in points but I havent done that yet.

Make your vote count, and vote out those who want to reduce funding that is used to help disadvantaged families and children.

I always hit up the loss leader sales. Thanksgiving Kroger had .49 items like cake mix and broth. They have Sat incentive sales like sugar 4# for .99 and Crisco too Limit 5. The pantry drop off said they were out of sugar. so .99 could mean a lot to someone.
Last year i was volunteering in the cat room and did nothing more than scoop and brush cats. Getting them used to human touch. DD made toys so they could take one w/ them out of scrap fabric.

I sew reusable menstrual supplies for a charity. They send kits using the sewn items along with other supplies all over the world to places where girls and women don't have regular access to the supplies they need to manage their periods. People with the charity distribute the kits and teach the girls how to use them. The kits go to places like refugee camps and areas that have been hit with natural disasters or where girls who don't have supplies for their periods have to stay home from school, thus depriving them of an education than may eventually lift them out of poverty.
I buy all my own supplies, donate hours and hours of my time to cut and sew the shields, liners, and kit bags I make, and then pay to ship the items to the charity in another state. I'm happy to do it.

Great ideas! I volunteer time and try to make sure the charity knows to write down the volunteer hours as "in kind" donation if they haca grant. Helps them if "matching" funds are required. They can count me at a fairly high rate if the volunteering is for something in my profession, about 9$ an hour if it's general labor.
